ABOUT US
Nimrod's story began in 1994. In cooperation with Hunting Association of Slovenia we founded a company on the debris of several companies from former Yugoslavia. Our goal was to collect, process and sell game. In 2004 we moved our activities to industrial zone Trata in Škofja Loka, where modern production facilities allow us to produce top-quality game meat and meat products.
Today we are the largest Slovene exporter of game and one of the largest in Europe. Our products are present in the top-notch restaurants and on shelves of well-known retailers. We are marking our 25th anniversary with new investment into production and storage capabilities with emphasis on retail products.

Nimrod d.o.o. was founded in 1994 to collect, process and sell game.TEAM
Currently Nimrod employs around 60 people. Several agency workers are also working during the main season.PRODUCTION
Yearly we process more than 3.000 tons of game, exclusively from hunted animals.
Our goals are to help the development of hunting in Slovenia, raise the valorisation of Slovenian game and to provide customers the opportunity to buy quality game meat and game meat products. Our vision is to stay amongst leading European producers of game meat and game meat products and to strengthen our direct performance on selling and buying European markets.
QUALITY
NEVER PRODUCT OF CHANCE
Quality is never a product of chance.
High culture of Slovenian hunting ensures that the preparation of food begins during the hunt. Every hunting organisation has a qualified individual who makes sure that every animal is checked and stored properly in a cooler. Same goes for all our foreign distributers. Thus, the cooling chain doesn’t get broken from the pick-up of the animals to our production unit, where technologists check incoming animals and analyse the meat, thereby systematically minimise the hazards of the products. The meat is checked with a metal detector that minimises a chance of presence of pellets. That means that our customers are getting high quality meat and meat products for 25 years. IFS certificate confirms it.

RAW MATERIALSIn Slovenia we collect game from more than 330 hunting families. Slovenian Forest Service is also our important supplier.
Our most important import markets are Hungarian and Polish, but we also import from five other European Union countries. We use exclusively animals that are collected from nature in accordance with hunting standards. Tracking is ensured and carcasses are chilled properly and as soon as possible. Therefore the »cooling chain« in maintained from the hunting family to the consumers.

WILD GAME MEAT
Game meat is a rich source of proteins, Omega-3 fatty acids, and some essential minerals and microelements like phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc and selenium. On the other hand, game is low in cholesterol, and free of hormones and medicaments.
You can recognise game by aromatic flavour and slightly darker colour. The meat is easily digestible and low in calories. 100 grams of game has around 100 calories.

ORGANISED HUNTINGMORE THAN 110 YEARS
Hunting was a mean of survival for early humans. Game is actually one of the oldest human foods. Later hunting became a brink activity, regarding the survival of men, and was replaced by agriculture and livestock breeding. Regardless, game was always an important part of our diet, especially in the countryside. Slovenian organised hunting as we know it today was influenced by Central European area, especially German-speaking countries. First Slovene hunting club was Hunting Club Vrhnika that was founded in 1878. Organised hunting began in 1907, when Slovenian Hunting Club was funded in Ljubljana.

Twenty-five years ago, we sailed into uncharted territory. When we decided in 1994 that we want to become a link between hunters and consumers of game, we knew that our journey won’t be easy. Despite the obstacles, we managed to make it through. The quest is not over yet, but we are proud of our achievements and discoveries. Satisfied costumers in Slovenia and abroad are spreading our story. The story of pioneers.
